The 8.5 cm height lets it fit under furniture with ease, while front cameras and infrared sensors aid it navigate around obstacles and thresholds with ease.
In our test of how it cleaned baking soda from corners and baseboards The Scout RX3 was impressive. Its 2,500Pa of suction was a little weaker than other robots, but it moved quickly and was extremely quiet. It didn't mop, and its cleaning pad that was removable was difficult to attach. It also wasn't able to handle dirt that was dried on.
Its app is basic with no advanced features such as multiple cleaning modes and automated scheduling. It does work with Alexa however, its voice controls aren't particularly intuitive or responsive. It's also a bit sporadic when it returns to the charging station after a run. Other robots can follow a wall or trace an earlier route, but the RX3 bumbles around until it quits.
Another issue we faced was with its clever features, specifically the mapping function as well as digital keep-out zones. While it did a good job of keeping away from our shoes and furniture legs however, it was easily hung up by socks and cables, and it was not able to manage the tassels that adorn carpets. This is the reason we decided not to include it in our best Self Cleaning robot vacuum Buy list. The Scout RX3 offers a good price and impressive performance. It's worth a look as an alternative to the traditional uprights.
