Top Rated Robot Vacuums

A robot vacuum will keep floors clean enough to decrease the frequency with which you'll need to manually vacuum. Look for one that offers good navigation, can clean corners and stairs and has a huge dust bin that needs emptying only once in a while.

There are also models that clean and charge on their own This feature could be important for people with pets or children. Many of the top performers in our tests also have decent obstacle avoidance.

1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO

The i3+ EVO is identical to its sibling the i3 EVO. They differ only in the fact that the i3+ comes with self-emptying capabilities. That makes the i3+ a good option for those who want a hands-off, fully automated cleaning experience, but don't mind having to empty their dust bin manually when it is full.

Both robots are adept at picking up surface debris on carpets and hard floors, and they're excellent at maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software creates a smart maps of your home that assist the i3+ to navigate and clean up efficiently. However unlike the i7+ or other Top rated robot vacuum rated robots we evaluated the i3+ doesn't have obstacle-avoidance capabilities, so it may get stuck on things like power cords or socks, and may have issues navigating across surface transitions, such as from hardwood to carpet.

iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum before you use it, including putting away any toys or clutter it may encounter. Also, keep the dustbin and filters free of dirt to prevent them from getting blocked. When the i3+'s internal bin is full or the battery is empty it goes back to its docking station and automatically empties its debris into the station's external dustbin, and then continues cleaning the area where it started. The i3+ EVO's battery can last for approximately an hour and a half continuous use. It takes around three hours to recharge.

2. iRobot i7+ Roomba

The iRobot i7+ is an excellent model from iRobot's flagship line and is packed with the latest features. It is self-charging and self-navigating. But the most expensive robot vacuum important feature is the self-emptying bin. This will eliminate the need for routine maintenance.

The Roomba i7+ is able to remember up to 10 floor plans and their names thanks to Imprint Smart Mapping, an application that allows it to map rooms so it can clean them more efficiently. It also works with the iRobot Home app to let you schedule cleaning tasks and direct your robot by voice or through the app.

The i7+ is more efficient and more maneuverable in our tests compared to the eufy RoboVac G30. It also removed large pet hair pieces from all surfaces, including carpeting. Its main advantage over the eufy, though, is its self-emptying dustbin, which removes a major source of maintenance and cuts down on recurring costs.

We were also impressed by the i7+'s compatibility Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services which we used to instruct the best budget robot vacuum to begin, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room and sweep an area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. After connecting we were able to communicate with the i7+ using voice commands, such as "Hey Alexa, vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring performance.

3. Dyson Cyclone V10

This tiny Dyson model is a sports car that is amidst a sea of vacuums with cords that feel like minivans and buses. It's powerful and has features to replace a stand-up vacuum for most households however, it can also fit perfectly next to the table for a coffee or shelves where you can move it around like a magic tool.

The V10 is powered by a 7-cell high-energy lithium-ion battery that can provide fade-free power for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filtering system is able to trap allergens and then releases fresh air into your home. The specially designed head utilizes stiff nylon bristles that penetrate deep into carpets and pick up large crumbs or fine dust. It comes with three suction modes that can be adapted to the specific task. It can quickly change from handheld to floor vacuum, and vice versa.

This model also has a dock that charges to 100% in about 3.5 hours and provides an easy access to two attachments as well as the clip for a wand. This is a significant improvement over earlier Dysons that require a long charge and are difficult to store.

The main issue with the V10 is its limited running time. As CR's tests have shown, its claims to run up to 60 minutes are misleading. This is a typical battery-powered cordless vacuum's running time. It's enough time to sweep the average-sized home but not enough to get into every corner. (A second time usually works). This doesn't mean that this model isn't a good choice It's lighter and more agile than older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on carpets with low pile.

4. iRobot Roomba 694

One of iRobot's most adored robot vacuums, the 694 is an entry-level model that's an excellent choice for people who don't want to spend too much money on a robot. It could pick up the majority of types of debris in our testing and often went over the same area many times to ensure an extensive clean. Its flat front makes it possible to reach the corners and edges of walls.

Its smart navigation system uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate your home, but it lacks the mapping capability of more advanced models like our top picks, the i3+ EVO and j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or low furniture and is often unable to supply power before returning to its home base.

The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways to the Roomba 694 because it has less parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower costs for recurring expenses and has more advanced automation capabilities and can better navigate its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges faster.

The eufy RoboVac X8 is superior to the Roomba 694 in most reasons, since it has a longer battery life, has the ability to alter its suction power mode manually and has physical boundary strips, and can be operated by your phone's voice assistant. It also feels better-built and has a stronger motor, and performs notably better on floors that are bare and carpets with low pile, while providing a wider array of automation features.

5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+

Samsung is a name that you see on all sorts of home electronics, so it comes as no surprise that they're one of the top robotic vacuum and mop makers. Their Jet Bot AI+ is packed with cutting-edge onboard tech for navigation and obstacle avoidance.

The app gives you plenty of options to personalize your robotic cleaner, including virtual barriers, mopping water levels and behavior modification docking frequency settings and more. It's easy to understand and user-friendly, as is the case with other Samsung devices.

In our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ excelled on hard floors and dealt with dog hair (on carpet) very well, picking up 86 percent of it. However, it did not do particularly well in avoiding larger objects, like cords and socks which was a disappointment. It's also more expensive than some of the other models we tried which could be a deal-breaker for some buyers.

The app lets you access the onboard camera of the smart vacuum. You can also set up live streaming from the robot's cleaning zone. This feature allows you to keep track of your pets or kids when you're away from home. The filter and dustbin can be cleaned for quick, easy cleanup. The Jet Bot AI+ comes with an automatic vacuum cleaner clean station which helps to keep the robot's bin clear and optimizes suction power.

6. Black & Decker Robot Vacuum

Unlike other robotic vacuums, that are made for carpets and hard floors, Black and Decker robots are designed specifically for hard floors. The robots come with an extra wide cleaning path, as well as a dustbin that is 2 times larger than other models. This lets them keep the area clean for longer. Plus, they include two side sweepers to clean around edges and corners. The POWERSERIES model also comes with AutoSense, which automatically adjusts the power level depending on whether it's collecting dirt on the surface or embedded dirt. The vacuum also has an app that lets you to view an interactive map, control functions, and create schedules. You can also monitor the status of the vacuum and connect it to the dock for charging at the touch of a single button. The app allows you to alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum so that you can determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.

The app also makes it easy to steer the robot manually in the event of need. For example my living room rug has a darkly-colored border that has a tendency to cause confusion for other robots I've tested. The HRV 425BL however, continued to move across the border, without notifying the cliff. The ability to program a cleaning schedule for each week is a time-saving advantage.
